RDN Dev Day arrives in WA…

4 07 2008

Following on from our hugely successful Perth RDN, we have now put together a seminar style RDN “Dev Day” which will encompass two streams of presentation and hands on labs.

This day offers extremely good value to hear two of Readify’s 10 MVP’s talk about various .Net subjects and offer hands on experience around what is being presented.

These events are not just for developers, as many IT managers, consultants, business analysts and testers also find it valuable to learn about various technologies they wouldn’t normally get exposure to.

Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Bookings open 3rd July - 18th July.

Please register here for the event.

Full information is here on our web site.

Readify WA secures two top shelf consultants…

4 07 2008

I am very pleased to announce that Readify has secured two local WA consultants over the past couple of weeks.

Graeme Foster starts as a Senior Consultant on the 14th July and Hadley Willan will join us as a Senior Developer after a brief holiday back home in NZ, towards the end of August.

We welcome both of our new recruits to the Readify team and both are very excited about helping grow the WA presence. I say presence as Readify is built on a virtual company ethos, so we don’t have an “office” as such.

Want to know more about our virtual company ethos? Check out our link to the Readify web site.

I’m sure both Graeme and Hadley will start blogging more regularly now they are part of the Readify team. I bit like I need to do really. :)

Training, Training, Training

12 06 2008

As I sit here in Melbourne airport waiting for a flight back to Perth, it dawned on me that I have not posted a blog entry in a while.

So while thinking about what to blog about, I have decided to focus on something that we have lots of enquiries for this week. TRAINING.

It takes all forms. We hold public course which are all uploaded to our web site now. You can find the plan for the scheduled courses here and they include scheduled Perth events. If something takes your fancy and it is not scheduled then register your interest.

We also hold private training courses specifically for companies and government departments, and we are also able to perform specific demo/focused training on specific problems your business may be having and want solved.

We can offer a 2 day workshop in WCF which is a cut down version of Juval Lowy’s 5 day Master class, which is almost sold out. This is a fantastic course on WCF. To ensure your company get the most out of this course we can also do a short consulting engagement to ensure you are ready for WCF.

If you have any queries around your training needs then please give me a call. We are very flexible and  can tailor something specifically for you.

Perth RDN a fantastic success……

30 05 2008

I just wanted to thank everyone who turned up last night to our first RDN in Perth.

You all made this the fantastic success that it turned out to be.

A couple of people I wanted to single out are Mitch Wheat (.Net User community) and Rhenise Crozier (Robert Walters) who very kindly emailed the RDN flyer out to their .Net mailing lists.

On behalf of all the Readify staff who presented and attended last night, a massive thanks. I look forward to meeting more of you over the coming months and working out where we can add value to your companies and your ongoing technical .Net development skills.

The business of the future….

20 05 2008

Innovation is long said to be driven out of necessity… If this is the case then surely nothing will happen until there is really a need for it to happen, which means we are all behind the 8 ball before we even start.

Pondering this thought has lead me to believe that in the age we currently live, is this really the case? With all the talk around Gen-Y and the Connected Generation, surely these groups of people now moving into business are starting to shift this long standing paradigm?

My thoughts on what the successful businesses of the future will look like are not dominated by gaining market share alone. Every company today is at a great risk from a company which enters its target market with a new and exciting business model.

The existing businesses of today must continue to innovate around product, offering and their go to market strategy but if a company fails to look at their internal business model and apply innovation strategies to this, their current business is effectively dead in the water.

It’s an interesting thought isn’t it…..

The joys of finding a rental property….

15 04 2008

After being a home owner for the past 10 years I had forgotten about the joys associated with finding rental property.

First of all, you are basically treated like second class citizens by the real estate agents, and secondly we are currently in one of the worst times in Australia’s history for a shortage of quality rental property.

With this in mind, i was not looking forward to entering this market again, or being on the other end as a landlord and not wanting to my prospective tenants to go through what is generally accepted as normally service.

I am pleased to say that we managed to find both a fantastic agent in Perth whom we have rented a property through and had another equally fantastic experience in Melbourne when leasing out our property.

On both of these occasions, we were made to feel respected, were constantly kept in the loop with what was happening, and had direct access to the people actually doing the work for us. What a difference this made for the experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending their work to anyone, if interested let me know.

Both our Melbourne property and the Perth one were all secured late last week. What an end to the week it was. But with this now done it’s time for the packers to move in early next week before the actual move. Oh and in line with my previous post on supporting a virtual company - I am writing this from a cafe in Hampton St, Hampton watching the rain clouds roll in from the bay…..Beautiful…..
